Biography
A conductor, composer and organist whose career has spanned the great sacred and orchestral traditions of Europe, from the Basilica di Santa Cecilia in Rome to more than three decades at the helm of the Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra.
Trained in Vienna, Siena and Rome, he studied under Franco Ferrara, Carlo Maria Giulini, Ferdinand Leitner, Leonard Bernstein and Peter Maxwell Davies, and holds a doctorate in conducting from the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia. He has played for Papal Masses under Pope John Paul II and conducted the orchestra of the Opera di Roma.
